- Lord of the Rings -
"Some who have read the book, or at any rate have
reviewed it , have found it boring, absurd and contemptible,
and I have no cause to complain, since I have similar
opinions of their work."
JRR Tolkien
After Peter Jacksons trilogy nobody can
go to New Zealand without thinking about Lord Of the
Rings. A story fulled with adventure, friendship and
action.
Do you remember "the Two Towers", Gandalf
liberating the King from Wormtongues. This spy that
was send by Saruman. Or are you not a LOTR fan ? Do
you remember the location of Edoras, a awe some scenery
... On the top of a rocky mountain in the midle of a
flat lanscape surrounded by mountains ?
You will think I m a Lord Of the Rings fan ? I would
lie if I say no because when the trilogie was finished
I realized that I became one. Well lets say that I became
a fan of fantasy and adventure.
Adding to that the respect to the people who can create
such a world that it becomes believable. JRR Tolkien
did. Peter Jackson did. All the actor and the post-production
in the film did to.
The location where I m actualy is free of any sign of
the film sets that where build in 11 month, but I still
feel to be transposed in this world of Midle Earth.
Arround me no sign of human beeing. Well the dirty road
but no more. I take a break to eat before I m doing
my way to "Edoras" looking this fabulous panorama.
After that an one hour walkway will bring me on the
top of the little mountain. The route is simple, but
I have to cross 3 times the current of the rangitata
river wich is strong and coooold. Then I have to take
care not to fall on the slipery mudy ground on the top.
But after a hard funny time, I there looking 360 degrees
arround me and its so peacefull until I The Crazy French
is coming to make his documentary video. (see in Video
section.)
I drive a good 20-30 km until I reach this valley. And
that worth to do. Only problem is when I came back,
I had not realy enough fiul in my tank. I stop in a
bar and enter. The people turned all their face to me,
everybody a bier in the hand. Its looks like an american
town where you are the stranger and disturb the peacefull
daily atmosphere of drinking peoples. But hey, this
guys where so friendly. They couldn t realy help me
about the next OPENED gaz station but we had a nice
talk and good laught. Everybody gave me a different
direction to their next GazStation.
So after this nice break I drive at night. I reach a
24 hours automatic gaz station. Put my credit card but
....REJECTED. I should tell you that it was freezing
outside and that next morning I had to give the car
back to the agency....Ups. Try with the second credit
card....waiting for authorization...and strike...it
works. So again when you travel take two different credit
card with you.
I finaly arrived in Christchurch were I sleep in a soccerstadium
waiting the next morning to bring the car to the wrong
adress. Hooo yes, this people gave me a 7 years old
french brochure. They wanted to be nice....but 7 years
had past and the adress where I came didn t rent any
cars....he just repaird them. After few calls we get
the new adress, I give the car and landed in a backpacker
younghostel in midle of the city. |
