I arrive at Franz Joseph town close to night. I could
allready see the big mountains formed by the collision
between the Australian and the pacific plate. Australian
plate going down and the pacific one going up. Tonight
i will go into a campground, need a good showel and
recharge my battery.
There I meet a very nice photograph Uli. This swissman
is now more or less a Kiwi. I mean he new a lot about
this country and almost everything about photography.
Incredible man. He changed his life like you change
shoes. From one day to the other he let the mecanic
job he had and became photograph. We get in his huge
bus transformed into a mini house and Lab. It was 5
time bigger than my van. Waaow. He used this car to
travel and do his job but still had a home in Hawea
without wheel. As he show me his picture, I feel I should
stop to make some holliday photo and start realy good
things. But maybie, you will not be so happy to see
one picture per article..ehehehe. But I tell you Uli
motivated me a lot....! "Aber vorsicht its cool
men".
Next day:
Some roman beginn with the word of "it was a cold
winter day". And today I could beginn with the
same sentence. Today I will go to the Franz Joseph Glacier.
No helicopter flight, no plane, no ice climbing, just
go by foot. Before I went to the lake wich name I still
forgot...
Then the tramping started. Coooooollld. Very soon you
could see in the valley the glacier. Once the stone
where I was walking were covered with this ice but this
time. No ice anymore. I walk until this mass of ice
that can advance or retreat 1 m per day. Its so fat
because of the narrow valley.
I arrived about 500 m of it and saw this sign. Forbiden
to pass this line. But over there I couldn t see anything
very impressive. Should I stop. No way. That can t be.
That very strange with the kiwis. I mean I was going
into amazing places, but when there where a lookout
or a pic-nique aera or still a campground, the place
where not as worth as the place you find on your own.
That is very sad. I should send them an urbanist and
a tourist ingenieur ! I mean you walk maybie a 40 minutes
and you should stop in front of a stone, instead in
front of an IceBlock. (Yes I know I a rebel ! But french
just are revolutionaire !)
So I continue and arrived where I realy couldn t go
any step any more because of the ice and this red guy.
This young man that break all the ice (A bad bad boy,
I tell you). He is searching all the time a huge creature
called Bigfoot. And you can tell him Bigfoot is working
for Pixar, and lives now in California - Orange County,
this guy obstination was so big and hard as the ice.
He maybie is still there, continuing to put all the
ice away since he found out that bigfoots home is not
here!
Terrible.
[ Look at the pic, can you see the guy on the right,
yes this little line...]
That maybie why the sign where there...
After a talk with a wittness of this foul, I went back
into the valley and go to the next town. Fox Glacier.
There I went to a lake witch name I allready forgot
too and walk to the mirror point.
At night I drive down to Ship Wreck where I sleep like
a angel after meeting a lot of possums. We lived happy
and had a lot of kids....happy end ...
I m realy lasy to write...
