Paraty 21/22.january.2004

Paraty about 225 km and 4 hours with bus from Rio, is a quite place to stay. When I go to this city, I feel like being in the old Spain or Portugal. Everything here has a charming old style...So I took 2 days to stay in this friendly touristic old place.

Nothing more easy to find than a place to stay, they are everywhere Pousadas. The first steps after the Rodoviaria (bus station) you can feel that you are not in a comon city. The ground is full of big stone, making the street very difficult to walk. Here the car is a pain, and the donkey a gain !
So girls don t take this kind of shoes that makes you taller :-)

The city is a pleasure for the eyes. The white houses have old style window paint with saturated colors. The place lays on a peninsulas.
The night the place is animated with people going to the music bar restaurant (bossa nova music), or visiting the shops.

During the day you can enjoy the beaches, visit the churches, have a horsetrip to the jungles and cachoieras (waterfalls), take a boat to the hided islands and go to the deserted beaches.
This city grew up with the gold transportation in the 18th but after a decline period, change for the Coffe oriented economy before becoming a tourist magnet.

I have a very good time there, listening to the Reaggae music on the Praia do Jabaquara beach , drawing a little, and enjoying the peacefull atmosphere. After this little vacation you have enough energie to go in a big city like Sao Paolo !

Ah I forgot the mousquitos, yes this place is also a tourist place for this insect, who realy love us!
