Copacabana
We quit La Paz with a mini bus to get to Copacabana.
The driver was just great until he arrived on the
peninsule situated on the lake. I don t know if
he took some drugs or if he just think about death
or if he was just tired but we will had a big adrenaline
push the next hour.
This guy seems not to like the live anymore. The
trip became to be an expedition to the devil, naturaly
they was no paved road and naturaly they was no
light on the street. Add with that the few ray of
the car light (not more than a lighter can do) and
a driver that drive on his left. I should mention
that we are not in a English colonnie and at each
moment a other car, bus or truck could appear from
this sinusoidale road. The result will surely not
be nice. If we didn t crash again an other car,
we will surely have chance to fall down the 50 meter
hill on the left side.I never saw somebody who play
witho the life like that. Lorenzo think there must
be a rational raison why this guy was driving like
that. For me it wasn t rational...more emotional
experience.
We finaly arrived in Copacabana (alive). Found a
very nice place to stay. Pedro a brazilian guy who
didn t like brazilian music, didn t remember some
brazilian names, didn t have more than 2 weeks holliday
and didn t have any kind of intelligence (sorry
for that), join us to share a 4 bed room. I mean
this guy was not nice and not bad. Just uninterresting.
He was just travelling with the bus without enjoying
the places he pass. I think he didn t stop at any
place more than 3 hours. Can you believe that. Vacation
on the bus ? 26 hours bus and 3 hours visit. Thats
not vacation for me.
Well on the next day we wanted to go to Isla de
Sol on the Titicaca lake.
16 mars 2004 - Titicaca Lake.
We are on the highest navigable lake in the world.
What does that means ? I close my Lonely Planet
and put it in my bad. Today we gonna go to Isla
del Sol. We take a breakfast "americano" (egs, toast, marmelade, juice, chocolate or caffee,
and pancake) wich was good.
With our backpack we quit the town of Copacabana
and follow a dust road. Sometimes we cross two people,
one old woman and a junger one, fifteen minute later
an Deja Vu, another couple of young and
old women. They look exactly the same but seems
to wear different colors. Are they cloned?? No its
just that here everybody wear the same traditional
stuff, and individuality seems not to be as popular
as in Europe. Here and there some domestical animals
are eating some grass, pigs, lams, cow, lamas.Walking
arround like that with no cars, no artificial noise
and just meeting this animals make you feel going
back in europe 500 years ago. I enjoy this but that
makes me feel hungry (a big lam a la Argentina...hmmmm
not bad???).
The two hours trip take us to a town, well could
we say town for this few houses? We try to find
a kind of "restaurant" but no chance,
the people here live from they own food, fish and
mostly eggs and vegetables. Some pigs and lam mayie?
So the impossible mission failled. The people we
ask just seems to understand few of spannish, most
of them speak an indian language and are cutted
from the world we know. Finaly we find a house were
we buy some bred and chocolate. We get back on the
road and met this 40 years old guy. He ask us if
we want to go with his boat (15 pesos/pers)to Isla
del Sol, we will pay the same price as the boat
in ??? but will be there about one hours early.
After a 2 hours walk on a big altitude, this proposition
is a tentation that we could not refuse.
The boat trip is funny. This guy could row on his
own until we arrived. But we helped him. Lorenzo
spend 2 minutes of his forces, afterwhat my muchilla
was completly wet. Steve and I where more successfull
and had more energy. Thank us, we arrived in 1.40
hours instead of 1.20. Ups that s bit more than
it should be but at leat we arrived. For people
who want s something very authentic just do the
same, don t be lasy and don t take the motorboat
to there.
The island HISTORIE
THE INCA
After few minutes walk on the Island we arrived
on a Inca ruin. Of course you have to pay but this
time it looks much more like a ruin than Tiwanacu.
Okay Tiwanacu needs money from the UNESCO until
that time maybie it will stay uninteresting. So
we get into this little INCA ruin "TEMPLE OF
THE SUN" spend half hour just to relax and
go back to walk. The Island have few vegetation
and the inhabittant cultive here different plants.
The hills are transformed into Step-terrasse. So
when you look from the sea you can t see the original
form of the island but just horizontale lines describing
the shape of the hills.
We arrive in a town on again on a hill (
i mean everything here is on a hill), no street
and stones everywhere. Easely we find a place to
stay at night (10 pesos/pers). Then we get on the
top of the hill, seat down in one of the
three house made of earth brick with the inscription
"restaurant". There we look at the sunset
behind the clouds over this big lake and chill out.
Its good doing nothing. The altitude make everything
difficult. A kind of peaceness invided us here,
because the environmentl. On the window the only
passant are people coming back from work with they
lamas or lams. We stay at this panoramique restaurant,
eat something and go to anotherplace to eat more.
A vegetarian pizza that came after more than one
hour.
Next day we continue our route to the north of the
Island. Of course we wanted to have a breakfast
so we went in one of the 3 restaurants.
Desayuno Americano ! That s sound very good. Lets
go there. We seat down . The owner come to take
our wishes. 2 desayunos americano for Lori and me
and one tea for Steve Ah there are no bred anymore
today. Okay so a breakfast without bred. We will
take an orange juice...No that s not possible there
is no juice anymore. Okay then the eggs fritos...Ahhh
there is no bacon anymore. So the complete breakfast
is just a egg and a thee. It don t sound completo.
The guy seems to be little bit nervous as other
clients enter. Then he get out of his restaurant
and came 15 minutes later. Okay this guy just went
to shopping. Thats original. First he says he has
a lot of stuff, from this stuff he say he just have
50 % of it, and from this 50% he just had 25 % of
it before he buy the other 25%. Do you follow me?
Yes? Okay but there is a but. This guy don t find
the key to the kitchen. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRG.
Is that possible? He is searching, he get out of
the restaurant come back look everywhere he can,
but everywhere is not very big. Where is the key?
He get some food, but he can t prepar it. Thats
kind of funny but when I m hungry and I m just waiting
all the time with my friends. We watch each other
...okay lets move from here.
And so we go to the north. A beautifull way bring
us through nices landscape. See the pic, I m to
leasy to describe it. Then we take a boat back to
Copacabana. That was a short end. |
